As part of Engineer Here and UK Robotics Week, 9-year-old coding whizz kid Callum Daniel is offering a free taster course for his company iCodeRobots. Having been introduced to Here East via the UltraKids programme 18 months ago, Callum will be running his 90-minute class on June 30th on the East London campus.

Callum was first introduced to robots at the age of four, after a holiday to Butlins where he was captivated by a robot named Titan. Callum became obsessed with finding out how Titian worked, which led to Callum’s mum buying him his own robot soon afterwards. Five years on, and as one of the youngest CEO’s of our time, Callum runs his own company called iCodeRobots, which he started so that he could share his love of robotics and coding with other children.

iCodeRobots teaches children between the ages of six and twelve the basics of coding robots. The company has been sponsored by Loughborough University London who provide a space for the children to learn.

Here East’s innovation campus is already a thriving spot for those working in robotics. Tenants include the likes of Hobs Studio, who specialise in 3D printing and run the largest 3D printer of its kind in the UK and The Ford Smart Mobility Office. Prominently, Here East is also home to UCL’s pioneering Robotics Lab which gives students opportunities to develop prototypes and structures at scale, and to work on innovative new technologies that will be applied across healthcare, manufacturing and the creative industries.
